time doesn't heal wounds
at best it helps one to forget
we try and beg and plead and suffer
enough to make today a little different
taste the pain
embrace the shame
as we do we bar ourselves in
what else can be done?
so much...
so terribly much...
we taste if we're careful
all that life brings us
one surprise then the next
changes in life
each, a new chance to start over
a new beginning
a sculpture of rotten meat
 
too sad for those who see
too bad for those who don't
yet they are the lucky ones
 
tremble before this
and know you are nothing
nothing, naked, bare before this force
this brute
who robs and rapes and bruises and plays like a child
in these wounds
 
sometimes time won't even ease the removal of memories
sometimes life is in fact death
and as it all moves on, as the wheel keeps turning
we neglect to see that blood is the fuel for this machine
and we do what we must
 
trapped yet again
in the system.
